Why are credit union rates lower than banks?
Credit union rates are often lower than bank rates because credit unions are nonprofit financial institutions. Without outside shareholders demanding higher profits, IC Credit Union can offer more competitive rates on deposit accounts and loan products than many similarly sized banks.
Massachusetts Credit Union rates are no different and are often much more competitive than similarly sized banking institutions.
