Mortgages
How do I choose the mortgage program that's right for me?
A mortgage representative from IC Federal Credit Union can help you decide what program makes the most sense for your specific situation considering current market rates. In general, fixed rate programs are often your best choice if market rates are low. They are also a good choice if you plan to live in your home for more than five years. Adjustable rate mortgages are a good alternative if you want the lowest possible monthly payment. Adjustable rate mortgages are also a good choice if you expect to move or refinance in three to five years. Financial experts recommend you choose the shortest term loan which has payments you can comfortably afford. This helps you build equity in your home faster and saves thousands in interest. A biweekly mortgage is another way to get the same results.
What will my closing costs be?
Closing costs are approximately $2,000 - $2,200 (not including points) for a $100,000 mortgage. You will get a more precise estimate during the processing of your mortgage application.
